Editorial Review for Mayflower Park Hotel – by Mary A. Dempsey

The Scene
One of Seattle's gems, this independently owned hotel succeeds in meshing 1920s charm with modern comforts. An antique grandfather clock ticks close to the reception desk, while guest rooms offer data ports for modem hookup. The Queen Anne-style rooms are spacious and comfortable, with large closets. Matching draperies and bedspreads come in shades of green, burgundy and chocolate. Some doubles have two bathrooms. Suites, meanwhile, boast wet bars and refrigerators.

The Details
The Mayflower Park's Andaluca restaurant features savory Mediterranean dishes bursting with Pacific Northwest ingredients. The restaurant's cuisine and excellent service make it one of the city's best eateries and its bar, Oliver's, reigns as Seattle's classic martini champion. This hotel also wins high points for its unbeatable location--it's physically connected to the Westlake Center shopping mall (home to the monorail station that links to Seattle Center) and is close to most of downtown's upscale stores and shopping centers.

I've stayed here for bussiness trips many times nice hotel, great service convinently located and a good deal. You always have a great view and valet parking. I will be staying again and reccomend it to others. Very friendly staff love the old feel of the hotel but has the updates to make it charming.

Pros: valet parking

Cons: on a busy corner

Rude staff. Very, very noisy rooms. My wife and I could hear every word in the adjoining room. Overpriced. Tiny room. Tiny bathroom. Antiquated.... have to share the very slow elevators with cleaning and catering staff. The two adjoining restaurants are overpriced and mediocre. We got the feeling all they want in this this hotel is your $$$. Many examples of this.... here's one: they charge $10 to make a long distance call, no matter what the length. They advertise "free internet".... there's one computer to use for the entire hotel in a TINY office with NO PRIVACY, hotel staff sit about one foot in back of you facing the computer you're using!! I'd rather stay at a budget hotel next time in Seattle, rather than return to this overpriced and pretentious place.

Pros: Lobby is nice. That's about it.

Cons: Very noisy room. Tiny room. Tiny bathroom. Rude staff. Slow elevators. Antiquated. Very overpriced for what you get.
