Editorial Review for Boeing Everett Factory Tour – by Nicole Christie
The Experience
While you could fit 75 NFL football fields, 911 NBA basketball courts, or a few billion pop cans into Boeing's Everett plant, it's actually filled with something more practical--wide-body planes (the 747, 767 and 777). The tour starts with a time-lapse video that compresses a plane's normal six to 11 month production time into just a few minutes. Next, perched on a balcony above the manufacturing floor, you'll watch planes move through the seven stages of production, from cone to tail. Finally, you'll board a bus bound for Paine Field, where the finished product is sent for the real test: the runway.
The Background
Boeing began conducting tours of the Everett facility in 1968, the same year the first 747 rolled out of the plant. That year, Boeing hosted 39,000 visitors; today that number reaches approximately 140,000 people.

Even the editorial review really over-sells this. I took my mom and my sister and we were all really dissapointed, even with the lovely new "Future of Flight" building. There is next to no information on this tour on how the planes are actually built. The 6 minute video? Just a non-stop whirlwind of video with no explanation or voice over. The planes don't actually "move" through production either. They just sit there!
Pros: Nice entry building
Cons: Expensive, Poor tour guide
