Quick Peek
Based on author Philip Pullman's bestselling and award-winning novel, 'The Golden Compass' tells the first story in Pullman's 'His Dark Materials' trilogy. 'The Golden Compass' is set in an alternative world where people's souls manifest themselves as animals, talking bears fight wars, and Gyptians and witches co-exist. At the center of the story is Lyra, a 12-year-old girl, who starts out trying to rescue a friend who's been kidnapped by a mysterious organization known as the Gobblers and winds up on an epic quest to save not only her world, but ours as well.

This author of this movie has been writing stories for years trying to convince people there is no God. Now he's going after our children in a presumably "harmless" way. As a Christian, I urge you not to subject your family to his writings or views.

Ok-LOOK to all the people bringing religion into this review.... if you have read the book, you can see theres a hint of religion, but NO WHERE near the extent you all are making it out to be. If you have not read the book or seen the movie then dont read the next paragraph unless you want to because im going to give something away... for those who have you would know the book ends in the fact that Lyra is trying to stop her father from destroying the "dust" and goes into the other world because she determines it is good. In the book, it gives that "dust" has something to do w/ God, and adam/eve eating forbidden fruit.. the dust is attracted to the ones who are no longer completely innocent, (adults who sin). Dust is in the book some particles that seem to be from another world or believed to be from a divine nature, and Lord Asriel wants to get rid of it. so whoever wrote that children try to destroy God..... you need to read it again. The only thing children have to do w/ dust in the book, is they are at the butt end of some crazy experiment, that they were kidnapped for. Now my point, it is a FANTASY BOOK/MOVIE... its NOT REALITY and its not trying to pursuade anyone of any type of religion. As a CHRISTIAN myself, im telling everyone this is worth checking out and don't let other people make up your mind for you on stupid things like going to see a movie.
