User Reviews for Sea-Tac International Airport (SEA)

5 Star Rating: Highly Recommended

Seatac International Airport, is not a bad one, but is also not a great one. There has been a huge renovation project that will be completed in 2010. Once this is done, it should be very nice!

Pros: Cheap flights, Easy layout, Subway

Cons: Crowed, Boring

2 Star Rating: Below Average

It's old, it's crowded, and it's congested. Fortunately for me the subway was in operation; unfortunately after weeks of miserable weather back home, it was a VERY nice day and I would have been happy to walk to the main terminal. The shopping is unique but you have to exit and re-enter security (a pain, when you combine few checkpoints with long lines). Since I usually are on Horizon flights into Sea-Tac, the Horizon gates (C2A-whereever) have no waiting area, and it's a very congested area for passengers.

Pros: Lots of connections

Cons: Congested

The layout is poor (too many passenger bottlenecks), the over-night parking expensive, it appears old and the flooring looks like it's straight out a fifth grade class room. Who ever decided that earth tones made sense with all of the grey in the skies of Seattle should have their head examined. The restaurants are bland, the gift shops mediocre but there are a variety coffee shops everywhere. So for caffeine freaks, this place is great. I've certainly seen worse than Sea-Tac (JFK, Midway, etc.) but it could be so much better. Hopefully the expansion will improve the place because as it stands today...none of the charm and beauty of the Northwest lives in this airport.

This airport is a mess. Imagine coming off a 6hr flight from the east coast only to find out that you have to take a METRO bus to the main terminal. The layout is terrible. When you return a rental car, the bridge takes you to the far end of the airport (bridge should be in the middle). I hope you are not flying United. The only cool thing about this airport is that it is better than BWI (worst airpot..period) and that it leads to the coolest city. But, who cares how bad this airport is...as long as you arrive safely. Also it is the only one in town. Also security lines were brisk and it was easy to navigate out to the highway.

Pros: lines

Cons: Rentals are in garage, Train does not work, chairs too small

I have flown in/out of Seattle twice in the last 13 years. It is safe to say SeaTac has NOT CHANGED AT ALL in that time except there is now more construction. This airport is far too cramped for the traffic it carries. Lines are horrendous (2 hours at the United Check in counter), limited facililties and nothing at all for kids. Frustrating given that fares to Seattle are generally the lowest in the Northwest.

Pros: Rental Cars close by, Gateway to Canada, Good fares

Cons: Old cramped terminal, Long ticket lines, Rental car prices

The prices were high the subway was broken down so we had to travel to get to where we wanted to go from the plane If you were handicapped it was very hard. Service was rude and the only place I would reccomend was StarBucks

Pros: has a nice view

Cons: expensive parking, Customer service, layout

Well-run and convenient despite ongoing expansion.  See the full editorial review.

Insider Tips

Pricey Taxis, Cheap Buses

Expect to spend $28-$30 to get into downtown Seattle. The Metro Bus isn't swanky, but at $1.50, it's a serious bargain (Route #194 is the fastest and most frequent).
