If you don't have time to make it to the many hiking trails outside of Seattle then Discovery Park makes a great escape for the outdoor lover. It is a huge park that sits at the tip of Magnolia and is filled with trails and great water views. I would recommend walking around (instead of driving) the trails and taking in all the natural beauty this city park has to offer. It is an odd setup though and some of the signs can be mis-leading, so I would grab a map at the visitor's center before wandering around. This park does have a lot of open space and if you don't have to time to make it out of the city, it could be a great adventure into nature.

Insider Tips

Know Before You Go

Sea lions, seals, even porpoises and orca whales are occasionally spotted off West Point, and at least one pair of nesting bald eagles calls the park home. But don't feed the animals: This park is a designated sanctuary.
